Dr. Sharon Smart

Dr. Sharon Smart is a speech pathologist and lecturer in the Curtin School of Allied Health at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. She has worked as a speech pathologist in paediatric feeding and swallowing disorders for over 20 years.  Her research interests are the impact of ankyloglossia on feeding and speech sound production, and paediatric feeding disorders.

Jessica has been invested in helping families struggling with oral restrictions since giving birth to a tongue tied baby in 2005, while working as a La Leche League Leader, birth, and postpartum doula. She earned her IBCLC credential in 2009 and started a private practice in the Triangle area of North Carolina, in the United States. She has worked with multiple practices around the US to initiate an integrative model in multiple geographic areas. 

Dr. Jimmy Chan

Dr. Jimmy Chan completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of British Columbia in 1996. He has a keen interest in the high-tech aspects of dentistry to improve and enhance the well-being of his patients. Dr. Jimmy Chan currently holds Fellowship status in both the Academy of Laser Dentistry and the Institute of Advanced Laser Dentistry

KEY DATES

Abstract submission deadline: Friday, February 25, 2022
Abstract acceptance notifications: March 23, 2022
Registration / Confirmation deadline for presenters: April 8, 2022

Your submission will be acknowledged by email and we recommend that you keep the confirmation for your records. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please check that you fully submitted your abstract, that your email address is correct and that the confirmation did not end up in your junk mail. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Conference is planned as an in-person event. Following current federal guidelines, you must be fully vaccinated to be able to attend. Proof of vaccination is required. Presenters have the option to indicate if they prefer to present in a virtual format.

GUIDELINES

  • All abstracts must be submitted via the Online Portal no later than the submission deadline.
  • The word limit for abstracts is 300. They must be submitted in English.
  • A total of two abstracts can be submitted per presenter.
  • No changes may be made to abstracts once the abstract submission deadline has passed.
  • Abstracts received after the deadline will not be considered.
  • The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission.
  • Presenting authors of accepted concurrent oral presentations must be registered and paid participants.
  • Presenters are required to provide a disclosure form and biography upon registration.  
  • Submission of an abstract indicates acceptance of and compliance with the abstract submission guidelines.

Meeting Safely

Our goal is to deliver an exceptional onsite experience. We work with our partners, guests, exhibitors and event staff to produce a seamless, productive, enjoyable and, most importantly, safe conference while carefully adhering to local, provincial and federal public health guidelines. Based on current regulations, conference participants have to be fully vaccinated and be able to show proof of vaccination to attend.
